Miss World Ivian Sarcos in Cannes

Miss World Ivian Sarcos is right now in Cannes, France as a special guest during the MIPTV showcase.  During the second day of the event, Sarcos posed in the red carpet as well as with celebrities and gave some interviews for the media.(GB)

Miss World 2002 Azra Akin, image for Women’s Rights

Miss World 2002 Azra Akın and actress Songül Öden have become the voice and the face of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Turkey Office’s campaign to prevent violence against women.

In their first action, Akın and Öden hosted a concert titled “Women Songs” on March 10, performed by the State Polyphonic Choir. The concert was jointly organized by the Culture and Tourism Ministry and UNFPA in Ankara.

Raising awareness

At a press conference held before the concert, UNFPA Turkey Representative Zahidul Huque said that UNFPA had been working for women’s and children’s rights and collecting data from all over the world.  Huque said that they had decided to work with well-known Turkish names Akın and Öden in order to raise awareness about violence against women in Turkey, and added that it was very important for them to get the support of famous people.

She said that Akın, who was chosen as Miss World in 2002, was in a very strong position in Turkey and the world to help strengthen the position of women.

Hurque added that Öden was very famous as well thanks to her TV series’, especially in the Arab world, and that she worked passionately for women’s rights.

Miss World Ivian Sarcos to visit Fiji

FIJI will play host to the reigning Miss World next month. Miss Venezuela Ivian Lunasol Sarcos Colmenares will be guest at the Miss World Fiji pageant.

Miss World Fiji national director Andhy Blake said Miss Colmenares’ visit could be seen as a privilege for the 20 semi-finalists.

“She (Miss World) will be able to share on the amount of charity work she is involved in.”Our girls will realise that Miss World is not just about beauty, it is also about charity. “The visit will help build confidence in our girls and encourage them to try out for next year.”

Fiji returns to the Miss World competition after an absence of 8 years. Their last contestant took part on the 2004 edition. The finals of Miss World Fiji will be held on April 21st, with the winner going on to compete in the 62nd Miss World finals in Ordos, China.

21-year-old Sabrina-Nathalie Reitz of Langenselbold was chosen as Miss World Germany 2011 among four candidates who competed for the national title.

Sabrina stands 174 cm and will represent Germany in Miss World 2011, in London, on November 6.

Road To Miss World 2011 and Miss Universe 2012

Lindsay Japal of George Town was crowned Miss Cayman Islands 2011 on September 25, 2011 at the Lions’ Community Centre in George Town. She is 23 year old and will represent Cayman Islands in Miss World 2011 and Miss Universe 2012 Pageants. 10 finalists competed in Miss Cayman Islands 2011. Janelle Mutto was the first runner-up and Crystal Tomlinson was the second runner-up.

Lindsay Japal is a professional model and a student. She completed an Associates degree in Business Administration from the University College of the Cayman Islands. She is now currently working towards a Bachelors degree in Finance with a Minor in Marketing from the same institution, while gaining valuable experience at Cayman First Insurance Company. She has worked with this company for almost 5 years, learning many different aspects of the business and gaining valuable work experience and life lessons.

Miss World Dominican Republic 2011

 
Marianly Tejada was crowned Miss World Dominican Republic 2011 and will represent her country in Miss World, on November 6, in London. The event happened in the city of Santo Domingo.
The 1s runner-up was Catherine Ramírez, who got the title Miss International Dominican Republic 2011, and will represent her country in Miss International 2011, in China.
Saly Aponte, the 2nd runner-up, was crowned Miss Supranational Dominican Republic 2012, and will compete in Poland next year.

Miss World Philippines 2011

Gwendolyn Ruais bested 24 other candidates in the first Miss World Philippines beauty pageant earlier today at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City.

She will be representing the Philippines in the Miss World 2011, in London, on November 6.

Ruais’ runners up were Helen Nicolette Henson (first princess),  Martha Chloe McCully (second princess), Ma. Paula Bianca Paz (third princess), and Jaysel Arrozal (fourth princess).

The coronation night, aired over GMA-7, was hosted by celebrities Dingdong Dantes, Carla Abellana, and Isabelle Daza.

Alexandria Mills, Miss World 2010, was present at the event.

JUMLAH kontestan Miss World 2011 mengalami peningkatan dibandingkan tahun sebelumnya. Tahun ini yang berpartisipasi sebanyak 118 finalis, sementara Miss World 2010 diikuti 115 wanita cantik.

November mendatang, ajang Miss World 2011 siap dihelat di London, Inggris. Sebanyak 118 wanita cantik dari seantero dunia akan bersaing menjadi yang terbaik menggantikan posisi Miss World 2010 Alexandria Mills.

Dibandingkan tahun sebelumnya yang diikuti 115 finalis, jumlah peserta Miss World 2011 mengalami peningkatan. Ini berarti persaingan akan semakin ketat, di mana masing-masing finalis akan unjuk gigi dalam setiap babak penjurian selama karantina Miss World. Demikian yang dikutip dari missworld, Minggu (18/9/2011).

Adapun untuk Indonesia akan diwakil Astrid Ellena. Miss Indonesia 2011 yang kerap disapa Ellen ini akan unjuk prestasi terbaik di ajang Miss World yang tahun ini memasuki penyelenggaraan ke-61.
 
Sosok pemilik nama lengkap Astrid Ellena Indriana Yunadi ini terpilih menjadi pemenang di acara final Miss Indonesia, Central Park Ballroom, Jakarta, 3 Juni silam. Ellen sukses melewati setiap tahap penjurian, mulai dari babak 10 besar hingga tiga besar Miss Indonesia 2011.

Di sesi tiga besar, Ellen dengan tangkas memberikan jawaban singkat dan padat lewat pertanyaan yang dibacakan Liliana Tanoesoedibjo, yakni dalam opini Anda, hal apakah yang paling penting harus dilakukan oleh wanita dalam hidupnya?

Pemilik tinggi badan 169 cm ini memberikan jawaban dengan bagus.

"Wanita perlu mengedepankan harkat, martabat, dan integritas. Menjadi seorang ibu adalah hal terindah karena dari rahimnya terlahir generasi penerus bangsa. Apalagi surga berada di telapak kaki ibu," tuturnya.

Dan, jawaban tersebutlah yang akhirnya mencuri perhatian kelima dewan juri, yaitu Liliana Tanoesoedibjo, Martha Tilaar, Tantowi Yahya, Harry Darsono, dan Ferry Salim. Mereka pun sepakat menjadikan gadis berkulit putih ini sebagai pemenang.(Okezone)

Miss Ukraine (World) 2011

Yaroslava Kuryacha from Vinnytsya was elected Miss Ukraine 2011 during a final show held on September 11 at the Ukrayina Art Center. Yaroslava is 19 years old and stands 1.76.
Yaroslava is a student of choreography department of the National Academy of Culture and Arts in Kyiv.
She was 2rd runner up at Ford Supermodel of the World – Ukraine in 2009.

Among the panel of judges were Sofia Rudieva, world famous boxer Volodymyr Klitchko, football players Youri Djorkaeff and Marcel Desailly, Jean-Caude Van Damm, Paris Hilton and Rosanna Davidson, Miss World 2003.
Yaroslava Kuryacha was never a favourite among the pageant observes. It is interesting to note that she wasn’t a winner of the local contest but was selected to take part in the Miss Ukraine pageant by the organisers.
The new Miss Ukraine will compete in Miss World 2011, in London, on November 6.

Gabriela Pulgar Luco, 22, from Santiago, won the Miss Chile 2011 title and will represente her country at Miss World 2011, on November 6, in London, England.

A total of nineteen ladies have been undergoing a series of activities to be able to come up with that one beauty who will represent Uganda in 2011 at Miss World, in London, on November 6.
Sylvia Namutebi emerged the winner.  She was crowned Miss Uganda 2011-2012. She won herself a red Toyota Spacio.
Primativa Aliguma was the first runner up. Amy Nandasi was the second runner up.

Miss China (World) 2011

Liu Chen (25, 1.81m, Beijing) was crowned Miss China 2011 at the Fan Gong Palace, in Wuxi. She will represent the People’s Republic of China in Miss World 2011, in London, England, on November 6. Li Dong and Yu Weiwei finished second and third, respectively.

Van Hoa Thu Hang Crowned the first Miss Auto Vietnam

 Van Hoa Thu Hang was crowned the first Miss Auto Vietnam held on September 3, 2011 in Hai Phong. She is 23 year old and stands 1.65 m. Thu Hang will walk away with the prize of 300 millions VND. The first runner-up was Ngo Thuy Duong and the second runner-up was Ha Tran Tuyet Nhi.

Nicoline Artursson was crowned Miss World Sweden 2011 at the National pageant held at the Winter Garden -Vinterträdgården- of the Grand Hôtel Stockholm on September 3, 2011. Nicoline of Halmstad is 18 year old. She will represent Sweden in Miss World 2011 Pageant, to be held in London, England on November 6, 2011. The first runner-up was Malin Brattström and the second runner-up was Maxime Calington. The top five includes Sara Bolay and Helen Beyto. Miss World 2010, Alexandria Mills, crowned the new Miss World Sweden 2011. Julia Morley was also present at the the big final.

Miss World Guam 2011

After a 15-year hiatus, a new Miss Guam World was presented last night at the Hyatt Regency Guam, when Siera Robertson was crowned the 2011 Miss Guam World.  Robertson was also named the winner in the Best in Evening Gown competition.
Anya Mendiola was the 1st runner up and Miss Personality (this category was voted among her peers), Natalia Faculo was the 2nd runner up, Best in Swimsuit,  the Madeleine Bordallo Beauty with a Purpose Award (she raised $8,284.83 for the ALEE Children’s Shelter), and the iConnect People’s Choice Award garnering 34% of 32,000 total votes.  Alisa Eclavea placed as 3rd runner up, and Leialoha Borja won Miss Photogenic.
“Everyone was awe-struck by all fourteen beauties last night.  They all stepped up their game and Siera came up victorious.  Miss Guam World’s return was a huge success thanks to the dedication of these fourteen beautiful and talented women!” said Pinki Lujan, 2011 Miss Guam World Pageant Director.

Maya Celeste Padillo Olesen (20, 1.75m, Christiansfeld) was crowned Miss World Danmark 2011 during a ceremony held at First Kong Frederik Hotel in Copenhagen on August 20, by Lisa Lents, director of theMiss and Mister of Denmark Organization and national director of Miss World in Denmark. Maya will represent Denmark at the Miss World 2011 pageant to be held in London’s Earls Court on November 6th.
