Brazil: Miss World Rio Grande do Sul 2012

The state pageants for Miss World Brazil 2012 have already began, and the winner in Rio Grande do Sul was Luciane Escouto, from the city of São Leopoldo. She is 24 years old, 1.86 m-tall, and plays volleyball in the state of Minas Gerais. Mackenzie, the team which she defends, was the runner-up in the recently concluded 2011 Minas Gerais’ championship.
The 1st runner-up was Tamara Costa, who will represent Ilha da Pintada in Miss World Brazil next year. Fernanda Duarte, the 2nd runner-up, is the new Miss World Ilha dos Lobos, and will also compete in the national pageant.
The new Miss World Rio Grande do Sul succeeded Juceila Bueno, who in 2011 went on to become Miss World Brazil and a Miss World quarter-finalist (top 30). Luciane won a brand new car, a trip to Disney World with both runner-ups, and signed a contract with Pampa TV.
After Juceila’s success in 2011, over 5500 entries applied to compete in the preliminary rounds of Miss World Rio Grande do Sul 2012.
Miss World Brazil 2012 will be crowned on May 5th, at the Portobelo Resort & Safari, in Mangaratiba, Rio de Janeiro.

The new Miss Tourism Queen Fernando de Noronha was crowned and she is Jeanine Castro, a model and television presenter. She was officially crowned in islands of Fernando de Noronha, one of the most stunning places in Brazil and in the world.
Jeanine will compete in Miss Tourism Queen International 2011, in Xi’an, China, on December 28.

Romania wins Miss All Nations 2011

The Miss All Nations 2011 final event was held in the China Liberal Army Theatre, in Nanjing, China, and the winner was Miss Romania, Cristina-Elena David, 23. The 1st runner-up was Miss Siberia, and the 2nd runner-up was Miss China.
The semi-finalists were Misses Australia, Armenia, Czech Republic, Georgia, Germany, Korea, Netherlands, and Russia.

Alien Decock, 22, 1.72m, was crowned Miss Earth Belgium 2011, edging out the other four 2011  ”super finalists” in her national pageant.
A student of Architecture, Decock believes that incorporating nature elements into her work will be something of great value.
Miss Earth Belgium also organizes workshop in jewelry design, making jewels out of recup material. She has her own website.
Always in a good mood and with a captivating smile, Alien hopes to make waves in the Philippines, where Miss Earth 2011 will be crowned next month.

Ivian Sarcos, Miss World 2011, will be welcomed in her home country of Venezuela on December 3rd. She will arrive with members of the Miss World Organization, including Ms. Julia Morley.
Sarcos became Venezuela’s 6th Miss World.
‘Top 30′ officially recognized by Miss World Organization – Meanwhile, MWO has confirmed that the candidates who placed in the ‘top 30′ were quarter-finalists; the ones in the ‘top 15′ were semi-finalists; those who placed in the ‘top 7′ were this year’s finalists.(GB)

Kimberly Legget Wins Miss Universe Malaysia 2012

18-year old Kimberly Legget was crowned Miss Universe Malaysia 2012. She will represent her country in Miss Universe 2012.
Kimberly stands 176 cm and is of British/Malay origin. Kimberly received the crown from the hands of Deborah Henry, who was a favorite in Sao Paulo earlier this year, but did not make the cut.(GB)

Guadalajara, Mexico, expected to host Miss Universe 2012

The “cuna of the mariachis”, the “perla tapatía”; the Mexican city of Guadalajara is expected to host the Miss Universe 2012 beauty pageant, after organizing, successfully, the Panamerican Games.  Local authorities have made public their desire of hosting this competition, and to put Guadalajara on the international map as a venue for major international events.
On their favor, they have last year’s winner Ximena Navarrete, who comes from this city.  The Mexican Tourism Board and the Government of the State of Jalisco would be the ones negotiating the venue.  The pageant would take place next summer at the spectacular Telmex Auditorium, which offers the latest in technology; Cancun was also mentioned as a place that would get promotion during the 3-week long event.
Guadalajara, the second largest city in Mexico with about 2 million habitants, is world-famous, with top notch tourism attractions and an impressive cultural legacy.
This would be the 5th time Mexico hosts the pageant; The first time was in 1978 (Acapulco), then 1989 (Cancún) and 1993 and 2007 (both in Mexico City).

TIANJIN, November 8 — The Miss Universe China 2012 competition was officially launched at the Radisson Hotel in Tianjin by organizer Yue Sai Kan on November 7th.
Sai Kan said that the contest has entered its preparatory phase and the provincial elections will begin in March of next year.  The final 30 contestants will be selected in May and will undergo intensive training, to prepare them for the national finals to be held in Shanghai in June.
Upon her victory, the winner will travel to the United States to be properly groomed for the Miss Universe 2012 pageant expected to be held in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Roseline Luo, reigning Miss Universe China and 4th runner-up at the Miss Universe 2011 contest was present at the event and among local celebrities, was awarded a recognition for her environmental work.  Ms. Sai Kan also received an award for being one of the most influential women in China.
Sai Kan added that the current Miss Universe China contest in addition of promoting traditional Chinese culture, will also serve as a platform for new Chinese ambassadors abroad.

19-year old Bodine Koehler Peña was crowned Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2012 during the conclusion of a live televised event held at the Centro de Bellas Artes Luis Ferré in San Juan.  Standing 1.82 m in height, Bodine  has been modeling since age 13 and speaks four languages. She has Dutch and Dominican ancestry, making her a true “universal” beauty.  She will represent Puerto Rico in the Miss Universe 2012 pageant to be held in Mexico.
The 1st runner-up was Vanessa de Roide, Miss Carolina, who will compete in the Miss Intercontinental 2012 pageant; Gabriela Berrío from Toa Alta was the 2nd runner-up and will represent the Island in the Miss Supranational 2012 competition in Poland; Jennifer Guevara, Miss Arroyo will go to Miss Continente Americano 2012, and Miss Aguas Buenas, Nadyalee Torres, will compete in Top Model of the World.
Miss Aguada, Shaleyka Vélez, was the 5th runner-up.

Malam Ini, Astrid Ellena Tiba di Tanah Air


USAI mengikuti perhelatan Miss World 2011 selama kurang lebih empat pekan, akhirnya Astrid Ellena kembali ke Tanah Air hari ini.
Astrid Ellena pulang ke Tanah Air dengan prestasi membanggakan. Dia berhasil memenangi sesi fast track kategori Beauty with a Purpose dan menembus 15 besar. Tentu ini sebuah prestasi gemilang terutama bagi Indonesia.
Dan, setelah berpeluh menyisihkan ratusan finalis, dara cantik yang kerap disapa Ellen ini pun bakal pulang ke Tanah Air dan melanjutkan tugasnya sebagai Miss Indonesia 2011.
Berdasarkan rencana, gadis yang mahir tiga bahasa ini telah bertolak dari London, Senin (7/11) kemarin, dengan nomor penerbangan SQ0319 pukul 18.15 waktu setempat.
Setelah melalui perjalanan selama 12 jam 40 menit, Ellen direncanakan transit di Bandara Changi, Singapura pada 8 November, pukul 14.55. Demikian seperti copy tiket yang diterima okezone, belum lama ini.
Perjalanan Ellen kemudian akan kembali berlanjut ke Jakarta dengan penerbangan SQ0962, pukul 17.20. Dari Singapura tersebut, Ellen bakal melewatkan perjalanan sekira 1 jam, 45 menit sebelum akhirnya mendarat di Bandara Soekarno Hatta pukul 18.05 WIB.

ASTRID Ellena tak punya banyak waktu luang usai menyelesaikan rangkaian perhelatan Miss World yang baru saja diikutinya di London, Inggris. Pasalnya, jadwal syuting untuknya menanti di Tanah Air.
Kesibukan bakal langsung menyapa Astrid Ellena setibanya di Tanah Air. Pasalnya, gadis berkulit putih tersebut bakal langsung disibukkan dengan agenda syuting terkait dengan promo Miss Indonesia 2012 yang audisinya akan segera diselenggarakan.
"Usai pulang, Ellen akan mengikuti syuting filler untuk kebutuhan promo Miss Indonesia 2012," tutur Nuniek selaku manager Ellen kepada okezone lewat pesan BlackBerry Messenger, Senin (7/11/2011).
Mengenai waktu, Ellen direncanakan melakoni syuting tersebut pada 9 November 2011 atau sehari sesudah kepulangannya ke Tanah Air.
"Ellen akan syuting selama dua hari untuk kebutuhan tersebut. Hari pertama berlangsung di Taman Mini Indonesia Indah dari pukul 07.00-17.00 WIB, dan hari kedua berlangsung di Cibodas dengan jam yang sama," tutupnya.(Okezone)

Congratulations to Ecuador for winning the first International Beauty Pageant!!!
Maria Fernanda Cornejo, Miss Ecuador, was crowned Miss International 2011 at the finale of the Pageant held Sunday November 6, 2011 at the Sichuan Province Gymnasium in Chengdu, China.

The first runner-up was Jessica Barboza from Venezuela. The second runner-up was Tugsuu Idersaikhan from Mongolia. The third runner-up was Keity Mendieta from Panama and the fourth runner-up was Desiree del Rio from Puerto Rico. The top three winners will stay in China for an extra week to attend commitments with sponsors of the pageant. Top 15 completed with Brazil (Gabriella Marcelino), Latvia (Lelde Paulsone), Lebanon (Maria Farah), Netherlands (Tali Hertsenberg), Philippines (Dianne Necio), Russia (Elena Chepilchenko), Sweden (Denise Andree), Thailand (Kantapat Peerdachainarin), Trinidad & Tobago (Renee Bhagwandeen) and Vietnam (Truong Tri Truc Diem).

Miss World 2011 new format


Miss World 2011 will present a new dispute format: there will be 30 quarter-finalists, then 15 semi-finalists, and 5 finalists. Then the new winner will be chosen.
Fast-track winners will earn points, however, will not automatically advance to the semi-finals.
A scoreboard will be displayed at some point in the competition.

Miss World 2012 to be held in Ulan Bator, Mongolia



The 62nd Miss World beauty contest will officially take place in Ulan Bator, in Mongolia. The official announcement took place in London on November 4th.  Over 120 countries are expected to compete in beautiful Mongolia.(GB)

Miss International Forum

The 67 took part in the annual Miss International Forum held at the Sichuan Tennis International Hotel. This forum, which is a tradition in the pageant since its inception, serves as a cultural exchange, as well as a platform for the contestants to explain what would they do should they win the title.  Among the moderators for this forum was Miss International 2010 Elizabeth Mosquera of Venezuela, and Miss International 2009 Anagabriela Espinoza of Mexico who will also act as one of the final night’s judges.(GB)

Gara-gara Narkoba, Ratu Kopi Kolombia Divonis Penjara


Mantan ratu kecantikan Kolombia, Angie Sabclemente Valencia, kini harus hidup di hotel prodeo setelah divonis tujuh tahun penjara oleh pengadilan Argentina, Kamis (3/11) waktu setempat. Angie dinyatakan bersalah terlibat sindikat narkotika internasional.

Namun Angie membantah semua tuduhan tersebut. Ia menegaskan kedatangannya ke Argentina adalah untuk menikahi sang pacar Nicolas Gualco, yang belakangan diketahuinya merupakan anggota sindikat narkotika. Angie mengatakan kesalahan yang dilakukannya adalah jatuh cinta kepada Gualco.

Namun semua pembelaan yang diungkapkan tidak mampu menghindari Angie dari jerat hukum. Pengadilan yakin Angie telah membantu kekasihnya itu merekrut gadis-gadis cantik untuk menyelundupkan narkotika ke Eropa.

Pada tahun 2000 Angie memenangkan kontes Ratu Kopi Kolombia, sebuah kontes kecantikan yang cukup populer di negara itu. Namun gelar itu dicabut karena ketahuan dirinya telah menikah, syarat yang dilanggar dalam kontes ini.

Perempuan cantik berusia 31 tahun ini ditangkap polisi Argentina Mei tahun lalu setelah diburu selama lima bulan. (Metro Tv)

Miss World 2011 Top Presentations for Beauty with a Purpose



The top 30 Presentations for Beauty with a Purpose finalists were announced today. Focusing on the humanitarian side of Miss World, Beauty with a Purpose aims to raise awareness and funds for charities around the world.
Top 30 Presentations for Beauty with a Purpose are (in no particular order): Barbados, Botswana, Ecuador, Ghana, Guatemala, Indonesia, Kenya, Latvia, Liberia, Malaysia, Nepal, Scotland, South Africa, Spian, Tanzania, US Virgin Islands, Zimbabwe, Argentina, Bahamas, Bonaire, England, India, Malta, Namibia, Peru, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Sri Lanka, Sweden and Thailand.
Sitting down with the presentations finalists in the Miss World 2011 Beauty with a Purpose competition was truly heart warming as each contestant was eager to share their story and raise awareness for their charities and causes. Zimbabwe spoke about the importance of clean water and sanitation, stating, "Water and sanitation shouldn’t be a privilege, it should be a right." Zimbabwe has been working to raise awareness and educate rural areas on the importance of clean water and sanitation, and when asked why she was doing this, stated proudly, "Because I can." Ghana was also eager to share her story. Ghana has been working with under privileged children living in the streets of her country. She spoke about the importance of education and improving health conditions, especially in the slums, where children are going without homes, proper care and even food.
These are just a few examples of the amazing things the contestants of Miss World 2011 are doing through Beauty with a Purpose projects. We at Miss World are so proud of all the contestants. As chairwoman Julia Morley says, 'every beautiful woman must have a purpose.'
